When it comes to Web 2.0 promotions, there is no shortage of different ways to attract extra traffic to your website. The difficult part is finding the methods that work best for you. One handy method that often passes under the marketing radar is the use of classified websites to increase backlinks and help create organic traffic too.

There is little difference between the traditional classified ads you see in a newspaper and classifieds on the web, except that you can post your ads for free on all the websites we mention here.

Most people use classifieds as a way to increase backlinks. However, do not discount the organic traffic that it might gain you so spend some time writing your classifieds. Keep them catchy and try to come up with a good headline. Also, use your targeted keywords in classifieds as much as possible.

There are a number of websites you can put your classifieds on but Craigslist is a good place to start. This will take a bit of work as there are hundreds of regions and you should post five or ten different classifieds in a number of different regions. Aim for the more populated regions and try to include keywords in your classifieds in all cases.
