Web 2.0 technology has opened up a number of new ways for businesses to market their products and services. The beauty of Web 2.0 is that many of these promotion techniques are absolutely free.
If you own a new business, especially a web-based business, you may not have much of an advertising budget. In fact, you may not have any budget at all. That's great! With Web 2.0 promotion, all you need is time and your creativity.
Web 2.0 promotions will not give you immediate results. Only a sustained effort will increase your customer base. Here are four of the most common Web 2.0 promotion methods:
Start a blog
Blogging is the most basic form of Web 2.0 promotion and can be one of the most effective. Bootstrap blog cost? $0. What you get out of it will depend on how much you put in.
If you spend time planning and writing good, interesting, and informative copy every few days, days not weeks or months, you will gain a readership. A blog can act as an excellent addition to an existing website or it can exist on its own.
In fact, I recommend starting out with a blog before you get a static website. For the technologically "declined", blogging is the easiest way to setup a website.
Promote your articles
As you blog regularly, you will find that certain subjects capture the attention of readers. How will you know? You'll get more comments and feedback. Take your popular blog posts promote them social bookmarking websites like Digg and Delicious. You'll be submitting content that you know will end up being popular.
Everyone loves free
Offer your readers something for free. Produce an information product like an ebook, white paper, or special report. But don't forget that audio books or short videos are also easy to make. An instructional ebook or audio book related to your field is a good place to start.
Referral traffic
Get involved in the online community. Participate in social networking site groups and forums. If you become an asset, and an expert, people will follow links to your site — without any promotion effort.
