More to Web 2.0 Advertising than Google Adsense - Part 2

More to Web 2.0 Advertising than Google Adsense - Part 2Thousands, if not millions, of bloggers around the world owe their livelihoods to Google Adsense. Web 2.0, blogging and pay per click advertising has transformed the internet and made web publishing and marketing an ideal home-based business.

However, do advertising solutions like Google Adsense really offer the best opportunities for web publishers? While the ads are often relevant to the content of the page they appear on, they do not allow the publisher much control over the products they advertise.

However, there are some increasingly popular alternatives. In the first part of this article we looked at Openads. Here are some more alternatives to the blog advertising giants.

Chikita

Chikita is noticeable because of the dynamic format of the ads and can truly give your website that Web 2.0 look. Chikita's eMinimalls show ads in the form of a price comparison of different products. These are especially useful if you happen to be blogging about one of these products. You get a commission on every sale and if you use this cleverly you can make money.

Yahoo! Publisher Network

Yahoo! is another heavyweight of the Web 2.0 world, though its Publisher Network is still far behind Google Adsense. It does appear to be mostly similar to Google but does have its own tools for helping you to drive traffic to your site.

Clicksor

You have almost inevitably come across Clicksor ads if you browse on the internet regularly. These come in a variety of formats, with the inline text link being the most distinctive. To the naked eye, they just look like hyperlink anchor text, but if you hover your mouse over them a small ad pops up. These can be a little annoying for the user, but lucrative for the full-time blogger. Try not to go overboard on these though, as you may turn readers away. Luckily, Clicksor offers many alternatives and you can choose the type of ads you have on your site. Alternatives include text banners, graphical banners, rich media banners and layer ads.

RevenuePilot

RevenuePilot claims to have the industry's largest payouts and that you can earn up to $2 per click. However, it remains to be seen if it really lives up to its claims. That said, it costs nothing to try so you should definitely try all the alternatives.

These are not the only possible alternatives to Google Adsense, you could also check out TargetPoint, FastClick and AllFeeds, among others.
