The Technology Gap between Men and Women

Research has concluded that, up until recently, there was a large technology gap between men and women. But, with technological accessibility and training, that gap is closing rapidly.

The Technology Gap Between Men and WomenAccording to statistics, women were not entering technology fields as often or as fast their male counterparts. The research concluded that men, as boys, were more apt to play video games and get involved in other high tech activities. Women were also less confident in their computer skills and their ability to learn new skills.

However, this technology gap is disappearing as more women enroll in technology and computer degree programs as college students. They're not only enrolling, they are excelling as their confidence levels grow. Women no longer feel inferior — a major issue according to research. Statistics are showing that women can multi task and be more patient with technical issues. Men, more often than not, won't take the time to figure out problems and are more likely to show aggression.

Will the technology gap between men and women go away? Or will the roles switch? Researchers don’t know for sure but this is a good sign that the line between the two will vanish. Both men and women, despite their differences, understand technology's significance especially in the workforce.

Technology doesn't have the boundaries or social limitations that other professions have. Technology exists in every part of our lives. So, the more pertinent question which may need answering is the technology disparity between those who embrace technology and those who don't.

If research shows that the technology gap between men and women exists, the gap cannot be large as technology permeates nearly every job skill in the marketplace today.

Technology is a major part of society and both men and women alike are taking measures to educate themselves in technology fields for the betterment of us all.
