How to Increase your Chances of Securing Technology Funding - Part 2

In the first part of this article, I gave some basic advice on how to boost your chances of securing technology funding. Here are some more tips that should help your cause.

How to Increase your Chances of Securing Technology Funding - Part 2For an organization to be really successful it needs to be pro-active. This involves making the best use of the resources at hand and making every effort to boost its effectiveness by creating its own revenue (if it is a non-profit organization) and teaming up with other organizations with a view to bringing it closer to its goals.

This will benefit an organization on two fronts. First, it will have the direct benefit of bringing the organization closer to its goals. Second, a funder will always look more favorably on an organization that is pro-active and is likely to put its funds to the best possible use. So, there are some tips on how your organization can make the right impression when it comes to securing technology funding.

Undoubtedly, your organization will have some level of technology in place already. Even if it is a little outdated, be sure that it is being used to its maximum potential. Often, a computer system can be brought right up to date with an inexpensive update of the software. If you can illustrate your ability to get the most from the technology you have, you have a much better chance of getting further technology funding.

Team up with technology centers in your local area. They may be able to provide you with services and equipment in exchange for your services. Also, don't be afraid to team up with other organizations when it comes to applying for funding. If two or more organizations can benefit from funding then it becomes a much more attractive prospect for funders.

Finally, it pays to shop around. Whether you secure technology funding or you raise funds from other sources you should buy hardware and software at the lowest possible prices. If you are a non-profit organization see if you can get preferential rates. Also, before spending money on software, check to see if there as any free, open source application that will do the same job. There is a lot of excellent free software available online.

Not every organization can afford to have state-of-the-art technology at hand all the time. However, a little funding can go a long way so be sure to spend all technology funding wisely.
