The Art of Social Network Marketing - Part 3

The Art of Social Network Marketing - Part 3In the final part of this article on social network marketing, we will look at how websites like YouTube and Flickr can help you promote your product or your website.

Over the past few years a number of websites have emerged that allow you to share images and videos online. Of these, it is video sharing websites that have really captured the imagination of internet users around the world. There are quite a few video sharing websites on the internet now, but none even come close to the popularity of YouTube.

YouTube

Digital cameras and modern mobile phones make it easy for anyone to make digital videos. Throw in a computer and an internet connection and these videos can be broadcast on the internet for absolutely free.

Many people do this as a hobby and others sell their content while an increasing number of people are using web video and video sharing websites to market their products and their websites.

There is no tried and trusted formula as to what makes for good marketing material on YouTube. In the past people have had marketing success with all different kinds of videos.

What kind of video material you choose to produce is entirely up to you, but ideally should be relevant to your product. If it genuinely has something to offer viewers and can generate interest it could significantly increase traffic to your website.

YouTube is one of the five most visited websites in the world today so the marketing potential is enormous.

Flickr

At its core, Flickr is an online photo management and sharing tool. You can upload your favorite photographs and share them with your family, your friends or with the whole world. Not only this, Flickr offers a neat opportunity to market products and websites online.

If you have a product that people like, or plan to release a new edition of a popular product you can be sure that people will want to see pictures of it. Obviously, the more aesthetically pleasing your product is the better, but people will still be interested.

Take, for example, the PlayStation 3. When the first pictures of the new console were released millions, if not billions, of gamers flooded the internet to get a look. Not many products cause the same buzz as the PlayStation 3, but consumers do want to see what your product looks like.

Not only this, if a consumer is proud of a product they own they will show it off. So, if you have a product that looks good enough, buyers will do some of the marketing for you.

It can be difficult to know what will or will not work on websites like YouTube and Flickr. However, the more exposure the better so it pays to have some kind of presence on video and image sharing websites.
